The lead article in this issue of the newsletter
is a history of the Brisson Funeral Home, Sanford's oldest Funeral Home, tracing its beginnings back to 1885.
The funeral home was established as the undertaking parlor of T. J. Miller behind his furniture store which was located at
the corner of Park Avenue and First Street.
The Sanford Museum
recently received a leather bound set consisting of a Bible and a Book of Common Prayer that had belonged to Henry Sanford’s
daughter Frida. The books came from the family of Harold and Mildred Bailey of Litchfield,
Connecticut, a kind couple who befriended Frida during a difficult time in her
life when she was seeking a permanent home. The books are inscribed to Frida from her godmother Anne D.B. Low and were given
to her in 1875.
